How It All Started — The Penelope Coaster

It all started with a problem. The regular sized coaster were too small for my husband’s cup. We like to call it The Beaker (picture of said beaker can be found on my instagram in the highlights).

Years and years ago my loving husband bought a sewing machine for me as a gift for Christmas. I was so excited and took to it right away! My first project was a set of cloth napkins and then I moved on to placemats. Both were so much fun to make that I wanted to branch out into something a tad more challenging, because of the extra layers. So, after many online searches for my next project I decided I would try my hand at fabric coasters. I started with regular sized coasters, which worked great for all of our cups and mugs, and were super cute by the way. But, of course, there was one problem. My husband’s favorite cup didn’t fit on the regular size coasters.

So, I took my measuring tape out and upgraded the regular for bigger ones and thus the Penelope Coaster was born and my husband was happy. He uses them all the time.

They’re super cute and I love them so much. The coasters are switched out seasonally. It’s so much fun matching them with the changing seasons and Holidays and without them Sew Cozy Corner Studio would never have been born. The favorite is, of course, The Blueberry Penelope Coasters from the Fruits Basket Collection and I hope to make so many different ones for every home.
